With December upon us, many of us are finalising plans for the holiday and festive season. For most, this time of year is spent with loved ones reflecting on the last 12 months, setting goals for year ahead.
This year, as you celebrate, spare a thought for too many young Australians living in refuges or Out-of-Home Care, detached from the warmth and joy of the season. While their schoolmates or colleagues are on family vacation, opening presents; Christmas is a time of sadness for young people for whom being with family is unsafe.
Because of the kindness of people like you, happy Christmas memories can be made. At Stepping Stone House, this is a very special day celebrated with fun, games, food, and gifts. Many generous volunteers come and make a day that the young people remember forever – for some of them, for the first time. We know how tough it is for the young people to be on their own, away from family and friends, so we go overboard to surround them with fun and new friendships on this important day of togetherness.
