What we do
Helping young people build independence and be the very best they can be
The Stepping Stone House Vision is to end Youth Homelessness in Australia.
Stepping Stone House provides homeless and at-risk youth with accommodation and personal development to help them become independent and the very best they can be.
We have 3 key aims:
- Keep our young people alive
- Keep our young people out of jail
- Equip our young people with knowledge and skills that will support them in achieving their dreams
For more than 30 years our for-purpose organisation has provided an inspirational, evidence based and innovative approach to supporting young people aged 12 – 24 years old to achieve independence.
We support young people from childhood through to adulthood; we are truly in it for the long haul.
Stepping Stone House has helped over 500 young people to become self-sufficient and independent young adults. We place significant focus on creating a FUN environment and wonderful childhood memories.
Through a combination of adventure education, team sport, community volunteering, mentoring and counselling, we equip young people with the confidence, self-care and life skills they need to become the very best they can be.
We stand out from many homeless refuges as a dedicated community providing a home-away-from-home environment; with full-time care and an opportunity for our young people to take as long as they need to get back on their feet and thrive.
“It takes a village to raise a child”
We believe that it takes “a village to raise a child” and in doing so relies on its staff, volunteers, and other organisations and supporters to step up and create the collective impact to change the course of our children’s and young people’s lives and break the cycle of homelessness and disadvantage.
