Stepping Stone House relies on volunteers to support our children and young people to become independent and the very best they can be.

A few hours of your time can make a lifetime of difference for our young people.

Volunteer Roles

Stepping Stone House offers 4 types of volunteer roles:

 1.  Skills Based Volunteers

We are seeking people to utilise their professional skills to support Stepping Stone House and help our children and youth be the very best they can be.  We need many skills including marketing, social media, piano teachers, DIY capability and so much more.  Check out the list above for the full list.

Time requirement: It can be anything from a few hours a year to a day a week, you choose!

2.  Fundraising Ambassadors

Stepping Stone House does not have any government contracts or funding.

Stepping Stone House has 2 annual major fundraising events, a sailing regatta and our signature event, Sleep Under the Stars and our fundraising ambassadors are critical to our success every year.  They rally their corporate and personal networks to sign up and fundraise for our children and youth.

Furthermore, we have many wonderful individuals who organise their own fundraising events at their schools, universities or community groups.

3.  Weekday office administration volunteers

Stepping Stone House has another small group of people who make themselves available during work hours from Monday through to Friday. These volunteers are given training on administration tasks at Stepping Stone House.

These volunteers follow the same procedure as our skilled based volunteers and complete a Working with Children’s Check and Police Check.

Time requirements: 3 –  7 hours.

4.  Mentors for our youth

These roles are very special and a real privilege.  If you have the ability to connect with youth then please consider taking up one of our mentor roles:

  • Youth mentors – mentor youth with training by Raise Foundation http://www.raise.org.au/
  • Driving mentors – teach our youth to drive in our cars donated by Goodman Foundation
  • Adventure mentors – developing a love for adventure in our youth through active participation

Volunteer training

Stepping Stone House recognises the importance of volunteer support and training and as such provides each volunteer with training opportunities and support networks to assist them in their generous offer of assistance.
